Art. 59a Data chip
1Travel documents for foreign nationals may be furnished with a data chip. The data chip may contain a digitalised facial image, the fingerprints of the holder and further personal data, as well as details of the travel document. The data specified in Article 4 paragraph 1 letter g of the Federal Act of 20 June 20032 on the Information System on Matters relating to Foreign Nationals and Asylum may also be stored on the chip. Article 2a of the Federal Identity Documents Act of 22 June 20013 (IDA) applies mutatis mutandis. 2The Federal Council shall determine the types of travel documents for foreign nationals that will be furnished with a data chip and what data is to be stored thereon. 1 Inserted by No I of the FA of 14 Dec. 2018 (Procedural Regulations and Information Systems), in force since 1 June 2019 (AS 2019 1413; BBl 2018 1685). |
