Art. 29 Professional education institutions

1 Any­one wish­ing to at­tend a fed­er­ally re­cog­nised study pro­gramme at a pro­fes­sion­al qual­i­fic­a­tion in­sti­tu­tion must have suf­fi­cient pro­fes­sion­al ex­per­i­ence, un­less such pro­fes­sion­al ex­per­i­ence is in­cluded in the course of study.

2 The full-time study pro­gramme shall last a min­im­um of two years, in­clud­ing train­ee­ships at host com­pan­ies. The part-time study pro­gramme shall last a min­im­um of three years.

3 The Fed­er­al De­part­ment of Eco­nom­ic Af­fairs, Edu­ca­tion and Re­search (EAER)11 shall work with pro­fes­sion­al or­gan­isa­tions to es­tab­lish the min­im­um re­quire­ments for fed­er­al re­cog­ni­tion of study pro­grammes and con­tinu­ing edu­ca­tion and train­ing at pro­fes­sion­al edu­ca­tion in­sti­tu­tions. They shall es­tab­lish the ad­mis­sion re­quire­ments, course con­tent, qual­i­fic­a­tion pro­ced­ures, qual­i­fic­a­tions and titles.

4 The Can­tons may of­fer their own courses of study.

5 The Can­tons shall be re­spons­ible for over­all su­per­vi­sion of pro­fes­sion­al edu­ca­tion in­sti­tu­tions that of­fer fed­er­ally re­cog­nised study pro­grammes.
