Art. 54 Tasks

1 The Swiss Sci­ence Coun­cil (SSC51) is an ex­tra-par­lia­ment­ary com­mis­sion un­der Art­icle 57a para­graph 1 of the Gov­ern­ment and Ad­min­is­tra­tion Or­gan­isa­tion Act of 21 March 199752. It ad­vises the Fed­er­al Coun­cil on all ques­tions re­lat­ing to re­search and in­nov­a­tion policy on its own ini­ti­at­ive or when asked to do so by the Fed­er­al Coun­cil or the EAER.

2 On be­half of the Fed­er­al Coun­cil or the EAER, it has the fol­low­ing tasks:

a.
It eval­u­ates in par­tic­u­lar:
1.
the Con­fed­er­a­tion’s pro­mo­tion meas­ures;
2.
the re­search bod­ies’ ful­fil­ment of their tasks;
3.
the fund­ing in­stru­ments of the re­search fund­ing in­sti­tu­tions and In­no­suisse;
4.
the ef­fic­acy of policy re­search meas­ures.
b.
It com­ments on spe­cif­ic plans or prob­lems in re­search and in­nov­a­tion policy.
c.
It sup­ports the EAER with the peri­od­ic re­view of Swiss re­search and in­nov­a­tion policy.
d.
It ad­vises the Fed­er­al Coun­cil on the im­ple­ment­a­tion of this Act.
