Art. 29 Participation of the cantons

1 Be­fore en­ter­ing in­to any agree­ment to grant priv­ileges, im­munit­ies and fa­cil­it­ies for a dur­a­tion of not less than one year or un­lim­ited in time, the Fed­er­al Coun­cil shall con­sult with the can­ton in which the be­ne­fi­ciary is based and with the neigh­bour­ing can­tons.

2 If the priv­ileges, im­munit­ies and fa­cil­it­ies en­tail any ex­cep­tion to the tax law of the can­ton in which the be­ne­fi­ciary is based, the Fed­er­al Coun­cil’s de­cision shall be taken in con­sulta­tion with the can­ton in ques­tion.

3 The can­tons shall par­ti­cip­ate, with­in the mean­ing of the Fed­er­al Act of 22 Decem­ber 19998 on the Par­ti­cip­a­tion of the Can­tons in the For­eign Policy of the Con­fed­er­a­tion, in the ne­go­ti­ation of in­ter­na­tion­al treat­ies in the area of host state policy.
