Art. 85 Implementation by the cantons
1 The cantons shall gather and process information in accordance with Article 6 paragraph 1 letter a without having to be requested to do so or based on a special assignment issued by the FIS. When doing so, the cantonal executive authorities have the power to make use on their own initiative of information gathering measures not requiring authorisation in accordance with Articles 13–15, 19, 20, 23 and 25. 2 The cantonal executive authorities shall submit a report to the FIS without having to be requested to do so if they identify a specific threat to internal or external security. 3 The FIS shall work with the cantons to implement this Act, in particular by providing technical resources, through protective and monitoring measures and by offering joint training courses. 4 The cantons shall within the limits of their capacities support the FIS in implementing its tasks, in particular by:
5 The Confederation shall within the limits of the approved credits compensate the cantons for their support in implementing this Act. The Federal Council shall fix the level of compensation based on the number of persons primarily employed to carry out federal tasks. |
