Art. 18b59

1 The can­tons are re­spons­ible for the pro­tec­tion and up­keep of bi­otopes of re­gion­al and loc­al im­port­ance.

2 In in­tens­ively used areas with­in and out­side res­id­en­tial areas, the can­tons shall en­sure eco­lo­gic­al com­pens­a­tion by means of thick­ets, hedgerows, ri­pari­an tree plant­a­tions, or oth­er near-nat­ur­al ve­get­a­tion ad­ap­ted to the site. In do­ing so, due con­sid­er­a­tion must be giv­en to ag­ri­cul­tur­al re­quire­ments.
