on Protection against Major Accidents
(Major Accidents Ordinance, MAO)

¹ The can­tons shall in­form the pub­lic of:

a.

the geo­graph­ic­al loc­a­tion of es­tab­lish­ments and trans­port routes;

b.

the ad­join­ing areas in ac­cord­ance with Art­icle 11a para­graph 2.

² The can­tons shall en­sure that, in the event of a ma­jor ac­ci­dent, the pop­u­la­tion af­fected is in­formed in good time and, if ne­ces­sary, aler­ted and ad­vised how to act.

³ They shall also en­sure that neigh­bour­ing can­tons and states are in­formed in good time and, if ne­ces­sary, aler­ted, if ma­jor ac­ci­dents could have sig­ni­fic­ant ef­fects bey­ond can­ton­al or na­tion­al bor­ders.
