¹Com­mu­nic­a­tions must be served on ad­dress­ees at their dom­i­cile, their ha­bitu­al place of res­id­ence or their re­gistered of­fice.

²Parties and leg­al agents whose dom­i­cile, ha­bitu­al place of res­id­ence or re­gistered of­fice is abroad must provide an ad­dress for ser­vice in Switzer­land; pro­vi­sions of in­ter­na­tion­al agree­ments un­der which com­mu­nic­a­tions may be served dir­ectly are re­served.

³Com­mu­nic­a­tions ad­dress to parties who have ap­poin­ted a leg­al agent are val­idly served if sent to the agent.

⁴Where a party is re­quired to ap­pear per­son­ally at a hear­ing or must per­son­ally carry out a pro­ced­ur­al act, the re­lated com­mu­nic­a­tion shall be served dir­ectly on that party. A copy shall be sent to the leg­al agent.
