Art. 35j

1 As part of a com­pre­hens­ive, build­ing- and life cycle-based sus­tain­ab­il­ity as­sess­ment in ac­cord­ance with the en­vir­on­ment­al im­pact caused by build­ings and tak­ing ac­count of Switzer­land’s in­ter­na­tion­al ob­lig­a­tions, the Fed­er­al Coun­cil may set re­quire­ments for:

a.
the use of en­vir­on­ment­ally friendly build­ing ma­ter­i­als and com­pon­ents;
b.
the use of build­ing ma­ter­i­als that ori­gin­ate from the ma­ter­i­al re­cov­ery of con­struc­tion waste;
c.
the re­mov­ab­il­ity of build­ings; and
d.
the re­use of com­pon­ents in build­ings.

2 The Con­fed­er­a­tion shall act as a role mod­el in the plan­ning, con­struc­tion, op­er­a­tion, renov­a­tion and re­mov­al of its own build­ings. It shall take ac­count of in­creased re­quire­ments for re­source-sav­ing con­struc­tion and in­nov­at­ive solu­tions.
