II. Ir­re­triev­able break­down

 

Pri­or to the ex­piry of the two-year peri­od, a spouse may pe­ti­tion for di­vorce if the mar­riage has ir­re­triev­ably broken down for com­pel­ling reas­ons for which he or she is not re­spons­ible.
