1The court may ob­tain in­form­a­tion in writ­ing from of­fi­cial au­thor­it­ies.

2It may ob­tain in­form­a­tion in writ­ing from private per­sons if the form­al ex­am­in­a­tion of a wit­ness seems un­ne­ces­sary.
